Vznik obce Sklenařice spadá do druhé poloviny 14. století, do doby před 600 lety, kdy začalo soustavnější osídlování pohraničních hor. V dřívější době byl zdejší pomezní prales chráněn jako přirozená hradba země a nesměl být rubán.
